The Physical Education Instructor is responsible for planning, supervising and evaluating physical education programs that are fun and support our priority outcome areas of Academic Success, Healthy Lifestyles, Good Character and Citizenship.
Develops, implements, and administers a comprehensive physical education and recreation program that meets the needs and interest of all Club members.
Prepares daily, weekly, and monthly program plans.
Ensures gender equality in all programs.
Teaches fundamental skills and rules for various games and sports emphasizing fair plan and friendship.
Supervises the gymnasium, fields and other sports.
Provides mentoring and case management for youth under certain grants.
Coaches youth workers, aids, and volunteers working in the program.
Ensures that members are respectful of each other and the equipment.
Administers first aid to minor injuries and reports all injuries to the Program Director.
Organized intramural leagues and tournaments.
Provides informal counseling to members, encouraging them to participate in other programs in the Club and referring youth to other staff members when appropriated.
Evaluates department programs and documents all activities to submit to the Program Director.
Supervises care and maintenance of department equipment, supplies and facilities.
Purchases department equipment and supplies as needed within budget limitations.
Other duties as assigned.
High School Diploma or equivalency, College courses preferred
Experience in working directly with youth
Experience in any of the following areas: Physical Education, Computer Education, Art, Drama, Music or Dance is a plus
Ability to motivate youth and manage behavioral problems
Strong communication skills
Mandatory CPR and First Aid Certification within 90 days of hire
